"Tenmoku" refers to a type of black glaze. The name originates from tea bowls used at temples on Mount Tianmu (Tenmoku-san) in Zhejiang Province, China; Japanese Zen monks who traveled to China during the Kamakura period brought these bowls back home, and they eventually came to be known in Japan as "Tenmoku" after the mountain. Eschewing ostentatious beauty in favor of a profound, mysterious world of deep black, Tenmoku ware is highly prized in the realm of the tea ceremony.

"Kinsai" (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by intricate gold ornamentation. The process begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (in colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold is used to add decorative patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation process involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines dazzling gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.

"Somenishiki Platinum-sai" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii, involving the application of platinum accents onto white porcelain that has already been fired at 1,300°C, followed by a final firing at 800°C to bond the platinum. The piece undergoes firing after each color is applied—totaling six to ten firings—with the platinum applied and fired last. The platinum applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, brilliant gleam. It is a luxurious style that fuses Arita ware traditions with a modern sensibility.

Dragon
The dragon is a mythical creature believed to be a divine beast belonging to the celestial realm; it is said to inhabit the waters, soar through the air on clouds, and possess supernatural power. Along with the tortoise, qilin, and phoenix, it is counted among the "Four Auspicious Beasts." In China, starting from the Yuan Dynasty, dragon motifs were reserved for the robes of the Emperor and were strictly prohibited for use outside the imperial court. Cherished in Japan since the Heian and Kamakura periods, the dragon motif is a beloved design featured across a wide range of media, including paintings and ceramics. It is considered an auspicious pattern said to invite career advancement, rising fortune, and business success, while also protecting people from all manner of misfortune.
