"Somenishiki-Kogane" (Dyed Brocade and Gold) is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying gold accents over white porcelain that has already been fired at 1,300°C, followed by a final firing at 800°C to bond the gold. The piece undergoes firing six to ten times—once for each color of pigment used—before the gold is finally fired. The gold applied across the surface creates subtle interplay between light and shadow. The luster of the gold shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, resulting in a magnificent, opulent style that commands a powerful presence.
