**Iro-Nabeshima (Colored Nabeshima) Style**
Products created for the Saga-Nabeshima family—whether for personal use or as gifts—were produced in the domain's official kilns. Pieces made in these kilns are known simply as "Nabeshima" and are highly acclaimed worldwide. Because they were intended as gifts, the resulting products were of exceptional quality and possessed a refined, dignified character. It is believed that the official kiln was originally established at Iwataya-gawachi (Arita) during the Kan'ei era (1624–1644), relocated to Minami-gawara (Arita) during the Kanbun era (1661–1673), and finally moved to Okawachi (Imari City) during the Enpō era (1673–1680). While "Nabeshima" ware includes celadon and blue-and-white pieces, those featuring overglaze enamel colors are specifically known as "Iro-Nabeshima" (Colored Nabeshima). The decoration of Iro-Nabeshima is based on a four-color palette: the blue of underglaze cobalt, and the red, green, and yellow of overglaze enamels. The Nabeshima style lives on today as a decorative technique in modern Arita ware.
**Mount Fuji**
Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak, towers over the border between Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. With its summit rising far above the clouds, it serves as a symbol of Japan and has long been cherished by the Japanese people as a spiritual home. Registered as a World Heritage site in 2013, it is widely known overseas as a magnificent mountain that embodies Japan and its culture. It is regarded as a deeply revered and auspicious symbol—an omen of good fortune and luck—and serves as an auspicious motif that evokes the very image of Japan.
**Cranes**
Along with the tortoise, the crane has long been considered an auspicious creature; the saying "cranes live a thousand years, tortoises ten thousand" reflects their status as symbols of longevity. In China, legend holds that Jurōjin (the god of longevity) rode a crane to summon the Eight Immortals. In Japan, too, the crane is beloved for its elegance, and its image is frequently incorporated into a wide variety of arts and crafts, including *maki-e* lacquerware and ceramics. This is an auspicious pattern—elegant and exuding nobility—featuring a gorgeous design suited for celebrations and symbolizing military victory, family harmony, and longevity.
