This Arita-yaki decorative plate is entirely coated in a distinctive red glaze known as *shinsha* (copper-red glaze) and features gold-painted motifs of Mount Fuji, cranes, and pine trees. The *shinsha* glaze derives its color from copper reacting during the reduction firing process, creating a rich, profound red hue that cannot be replicated with standard pigments. Furthermore, the firing process induces "kiln transmutation" (*yōhen*), resulting in unique variations in glaze flow and shading for every piece; this creates an unparalleled aesthetic where the beauty of chance harmonizes with the beauty of deliberate artistry. The artisan pours their heart and soul into every step—from wheel-throwing to hand-painting—engaging with the power of the flames to pursue a singular, unique beauty.

The depicted motifs represent a combination of auspicious Japanese symbols. Mount Fuji, positioned at the center, is a celebrated peak cherished since ancient times as a symbol of Japan and an omen of good fortune and prosperity. Its majestic form rising above the clouds is widely recognized both in Japan and abroad as an auspicious motif that embodies Japanese culture itself.
The dancing crane is a symbol of longevity—evoking the proverb "cranes live a thousand years, turtles ten thousand." With its graceful and elegant appearance, it has long been used in ceramics and *maki-e* lacquerware as an auspicious motif signifying celebratory occasions, prosperity, and family harmony.
The pine tree is also a traditional auspicious motif—frequently seen in Old Imari and Iro-Nabeshima wares—symbolizing longevity and constancy due to its vitality in retaining its green color even amidst the bitter cold. By rendering these auspicious motifs—Mount Fuji, cranes, and pine trees—against the deep red of the *shinsha* glaze and the brilliance of gold accents, the piece achieves a perfect balance of dignified elegance and splendor.

Displaying this plate in an alcove (*tokonoma*), entryway, reception room, or living area infuses the space with a refined Japanese atmosphere and a touch of glamour, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. It is a masterpiece worthy of a fine art collection, born from the fusion of the artisan's heartfelt handiwork and techniques backed by four centuries of Arita-yaki history. Furthermore, the design—featuring Mount Fuji, cranes, and pine trees—is rich in auspicious symbolism; it is highly appreciated as a celebratory gift and possesses a refined elegance suitable for any occasion. Beyond its use for commemorative items, corporate gifts, and presents for various celebrations, it is also highly acclaimed as a gift for overseas recipients, thanks to the beauty of its traditional craftsmanship and a design that epitomizes Japanese culture. This exquisite Arita-yaki decorative plate—embodying Japanese beauty and good fortune—is a masterpiece to be cherished for years to come.
