All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage process: underglaze blue painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; overglaze painting using traditional Arita colors (such as red, green, blue, and yellow) followed by firing at 800°C; and finally, the application of gold patterns for decoration. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation process involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.
This piece utilizes distinctive glazes known as *shinsha* (copper red) and *ryokusai* (green). Unlike painted pigments, the red and green hues—derived from copper or copper oxide within the glaze—offer a rich, profound depth. Furthermore, the glazes underwent *yōhen* (kiln transformation) during the reduction firing process, creating unique variations in flow and color that allow the viewer to appreciate a "beauty born of chance."
**Mount Fuji**
Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak, towers over the border between Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. With its summit rising far above the clouds, it serves as a symbol of Japan and a spiritual home for the Japanese people, cherished by many throughout history. Registered as a World Heritage Site in 2013, it is widely known internationally as a celebrated mountain that embodies Japan and its culture. It is regarded as a highly auspicious symbol—a harbinger of good fortune and luck—and serves as an auspicious motif that evokes the very image of Japan.
**The Crane**
Along with the turtle, the crane has long been revered as an auspicious creature; the saying "cranes live a thousand years, turtles ten thousand" reflects its status as a symbol of longevity. In Chinese legend, the deity Shōrōjin (God of Longevity) is said to have ridden a crane to summon the Eight Immortals. In Japan, too, the crane is beloved for its elegance, and its motif is widely incorporated into various art forms, including *makie* lacquerware and ceramics. This is an auspicious pattern—elegant and exuding nobility—featuring a gorgeous design suited for celebrations and symbolizing military victory, family harmony, and longevity.
