All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage firing process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (red, green, blue, yellow, etc.) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold is used to add decorative patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.
**Crane**
Along with the tortoise, the crane has long been revered as an auspicious creature—symbolized by the saying "cranes live a thousand years, tortoises ten thousand"—and is considered a bird of longevity. In Chinese legend, the deity of longevity (Shou-lao-ren) is said to have ridden a crane to summon the Eight Immortals. In Japan, too, the elegant crane is deeply cherished, and its motif appears in a wide variety of arts, including *maki-e* lacquerware and ceramics. It is a splendid, auspicious pattern suitable for celebrations, symbolizing military victory, family harmony, and longevity, while conveying a sense of grace and nobility.
**Pine, Bamboo, and Plum (*Sho-chiku-bai*)**
The pine and bamboo—which retain their green color even amidst wind, snow, and bitter cold—and the plum—which blooms earlier than other plants—are revered as symbols of longevity, integrity, and purity. The pine represents enduring vitality; the bamboo signifies steadfastness and high moral character; and the plum is celebrated for its delicate fragrance and refined elegance. **Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves)**
This is a geometric pattern featuring wave motifs drawn in fan-like shapes and layered in an alternating arrangement. Its perfected beauty as a traditional pattern appeals to everyone, and it has frequently appeared in works of *Iro-Nabeshima* and *Ko-Imari* (Old Imari) ware. This is an auspicious pattern that embodies the wish for a peaceful life to continue forever—much like the waves that ceaselessly roll across the vast, open ocean.
**Shippō (Seven Treasures) Pattern**
This pattern is created by interlocking circles of uniform size, with each circle overlapping the next by a quarter of its area. Its perfected beauty as a traditional design has made it a universal favorite, frequently appearing on Arita and Imari ware ceramics. The circular shapes within the Shippō pattern symbolize harmony and completeness. Furthermore, because the circles link together endlessly, the pattern represents wishes for everlasting peace and the prosperity of future generations.
