The process requires firing the piece after the application of each individual color—totaling six to ten firings—before the final platinum firing. The platinum applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant sparkle.
