All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
"Somenishiki Platinum-Iroe" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying platinum accents to white porcelain that has already been fired at 1,300°C, followed by a final firing at 800°C to bond the platinum to the surface. The piece undergoes multiple firings—typically six to ten rounds—as each individual color is applied, with the platinum firing serving as the final step. The platinum applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant sparkle. This luxurious style harmoniously blends the traditions of Arita ware with a modern aesthetic.
**Crane**
Along with the tortoise, the crane has long been revered as an auspicious creature—embodied by the saying "cranes live a thousand years, tortoises ten thousand"—and is celebrated as a symbol of longevity. In Chinese legend, the deity of longevity (Shou-lao-ren) is said to have ridden a crane to summon the Eight Immortals. In Japan, too, the crane is cherished for its elegance, and its motif appears widely in arts ranging from *maki-e* lacquerware to ceramics. With a magnificent pattern suited for celebrations, the crane symbolizes victory, domestic harmony, and longevity; it is an auspicious design that conveys grace and nobility.
**Pine**
The pine tree, which retains its verdant green even amidst wind, snow, and bitter cold, is revered as a symbol of longevity. Its dignified appearance has long been admired, making it a frequent subject in classic styles such as Iro-Nabeshima and Ko-Imari (Old Imari) ware. Exuding an air of nobility, the pine is a traditional, auspicious motif believed to attract good fortune—a design that remains immensely popular to this day.
