Firefighter 火消  (Hikeshi)

Hikeshi refers to the firefighting organization and its members during the Edo period.

Because advanced firefighting technology like that of today did not exist,

they climbed ladders, searched for the source of the fire,

and rushed to the scene as quickly as possible.

Furthermore, the "matoi" bearers, who waved a marker called a "matoi" in dangerous places,

were considered the most glamorous members of the Hikeshi.

These fearless and stylish Hikeshi were highly popular among the townspeople,

and were apparently objects of admiration.

Lucky Cat Series   (Fuku Manekineko)

Cats are a familiar sight to Japanese people, and in the past, they were considered auspicious symbols for sericulture because they protected crops and controlled pests.

Now that sericulture has declined, they are cherished as symbols of

business prosperity and family safety.
