This piece represents the culmination of the artist's technical mastery, achieved after countless trials to perfect an intricate design featuring a distinctive luster—a style known as "Kinrande-style underglaze coloring." Its greatest appeal lies in the original technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. While conventional overglaze porcelain painting involves firing pigments onto a previously glazed and fired surface, this work employs a unique underglaze technique that allows vibrant colors to emerge from beneath a transparent glaze, resulting in a flawless, radiant porcelain surface. The artist employs subtle tonal shifts and a distinctive "gradation" (or *bokashi*) technique; by eschewing sharp outlines and instead using varying color intensities to softly blend forms, he creates a sense of depth and shading. Furthermore, the piece is finished with meticulous detail using matte gold accents against the lustrous porcelain—a result of immense time, effort, and honed skill. The interplay between the deep, radiant sheen of the porcelain and the matte gold creates an exquisite elegance and a commanding presence.
