*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage firing process. It begins with underglaze blue painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (red, green, blue, yellow, etc.) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create intricate patterns. Because each color requires a separate firing, a single piece may undergo five to ten firings before completion. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.

**Kirin (Qilin)**
The *Kirin* is a mythical creature from Chinese legend said to appear before the arrival of a sage. In ancient China, it was revered—alongside the tortoise, phoenix, and dragon—as one of the "Four Auspicious Beasts," believed to possess mystical power and symbolize the preservation of peace. Its image has long been cherished in a wide variety of decorative arts and furnishings; as an auspicious motif, it is considered a bringer of good fortune.

**Ko-Imari (Old Imari) Style**
Ceramics produced in the Hizen region (modern-day Saga and Nagasaki prefectures) from the late 17th to the late 18th century were exported to Europe via the port of Imari. Consequently, these Hizen ceramics came to be known both domestically and internationally as "Imari" (or "Old Imari") after the port from which they were shipped. Characterized by deep underglaze blue tones, lavish use of red and gold enamels, and floral patterns that cover the entire surface, this style is thought to reflect the prosperous spirit of the Genroku era. Hizen ceramics exported to Europe were highly prized, adorning the palaces of royalty and the mansions of the aristocracy. This graceful, magnificent style captivated 17th-century Europe and remains beloved today, standing as a quintessential style of Arita ware that has been passed down to the present.
