All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage creation process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (in colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold is used to add decorative patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the entire process involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.
*Jinkō-tsubo* (Agarwood Jar)
These jars were designed to hold aromatic wood (*jinkō* or agarwood). While the lid was kept closed during daily use, it would be opened when guests arrived, allowing the fragrant scent to drift through the room and welcome visitors. Produced in the Hizen region (modern-day Saga and Nagasaki prefectures) between the late 17th and late 18th centuries, these jars were exported to Europe via the port of Imari. Consequently, porcelain from Hizen came to be known both domestically and internationally as "Imari ware" (or "Old Imari") after the port's name. Once in Europe, these jars were prized as treasures, adorning the palaces of royalty and the mansions of the aristocracy. The graceful, splendid style that captivated 17th-century Europe remains beloved today, adding a touch of lavish opulence to interiors.
