All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage process: underglaze painting followed by firing at 1,300°C; overglaze painting using traditional Arita pigments followed by firing at 800°C to incorporate colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow; and finally, the application of gold patterns for decoration. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent and dignified style that combines brilliant gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.
*Inaho* (Ears of Rice)
Rice is the staple food of the Japanese people and has long been offered to the gods. The motif of rice ears—which bow their heads as they ripen—serves as a metaphor for the virtue of humility found in truly noble individuals. It is also considered an auspicious pattern symbolizing a bountiful harvest.
