*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage firing process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (in colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create decorative patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the entire creation process involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.

**Deer (*Shika*)**
Deer are familiar animals that have long been celebrated in classical poetry, including the *Man'yoshu*. In Chinese, the word for deer is pronounced *lu* (or *roku* in Japanese); because this sounds similar to the word for "official salary" or "blessing" (*lu*/*roku*), the deer has come to symbolize *fukuroku*—good fortune and prosperity. Influenced by this tradition, the deer motif has long been cherished in Japan, appearing on a wide variety of items such as ornaments and ceramics as a symbol of longevity and prosperity. It is a highly popular auspicious motif, valued for the animal's charming appearance and its compatibility with modern designs.

**Autumn Maple Leaves (*Momiji*)**
Prized since ancient times for the beauty of their shapes and colors, maple leaves have frequently been depicted in styles such as Iro-Nabeshima and Ko-Imari (Old Imari). The maple leaf—which turns a brilliant red in late autumn—is a popular motif, cherished for the evocative, atmospheric quality it brings to a design.
