*Kinsai* (Gold Decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by its lavish and dignified aesthetic, featuring brilliant gold accents applied over a base of underglaze blue and traditional overglaze enamels. The production process involves multiple firings—typically five to ten—as the piece is fired after the application of each color. The result is a magnificent work that combines striking gold ornamentation with inventive color schemes and layouts.
*Somenishiki* is a traditional style of Arita and Imari ware that combines underglaze blue painting with traditional overglaze enamels (such as red, green, blue, and yellow). Like *Kinsai*, the process requires firing the piece after the application of each color, resulting in a total of four to ten firings per item. Originating around 1675, *Somenishiki* (including the *Iro-Nabeshima* style) was initially created for castle furnishings and as presentation pieces for the Shogunate, feudal lords, and the Imperial Court; these techniques and traditions continue to be preserved today.
Cherry Blossoms (*Sakura*)
Cherry blossoms are the national flower of Japan and are deeply beloved by the Japanese people. Their magnificent appearance has made them a popular motif in paintings and crafts since ancient times. With their spectacular full bloom and petals fluttering gently in the wind, they are cherished for the festive and elegant atmosphere they evoke.
*Seigaiha* (Blue Ocean Waves)
This is a geometric pattern depicting waves in a fan-like shape, layered in an alternating arrangement. Its perfected beauty as a traditional pattern appeals to everyone, and it frequently appears in *Iro-Nabeshima* and *Ko-Imari* (Old Imari) wares. It is considered an auspicious pattern, embodying the wish for a peaceful life that continues forever—much like the ceaseless, repeating waves of the vast, open ocean.
