"Somenishiki Platinum-Irodori" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying platinum accents to white porcelain—which has already been fired at 1,300°C—and then firing it again at 800°C to bond the platinum to the surface. The piece undergoes multiple firings—typically six to ten rounds—as each color is applied, with the platinum firing serving as the final step. The platinum applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant gleam. This luxurious style harmoniously blends the traditions of Arita ware with a modern aesthetic.
Quail (*Uzura*)
The quail is a migratory bird of the pheasant family, characterized by a rounded body, a short tail, and reddish-brown plumage speckled with black, yellow, and white markings. Long a popular subject in arts and crafts as well as painting, the quail motif is cherished for its adorable, heartwarming, and serene quality. Because the bird's call sounds like the Japanese phrase *Gokitchō* (meaning "an auspicious omen"), the quail is regarded as a highly lucky motif that brings good fortune.
