The works created through a dialogue with the kiln's flames embody the dignified beauty cultivated by the Arita ware tradition. Each piece is crafted by hand—throwing the clay on the wheel while feeling its texture, and channeling every ounce of focus into the tip of the brush—resulting in a depth of character and a commanding presence that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

This piece is an Arita ware decorative art plate that brings the aesthetic sensibilities of the "Old Imari" style—which captivated European royalty and aristocracy from the late 17th through the 18th centuries—into the modern era. The name "Old Imari" originates from the magnificent ceramics fired in the Hizen region and shipped overseas from the port of Imari; the style became world-renowned for its lavish use of rich underglaze blue, red overglaze enamel, and gold leaf. Its designs, which evoke the splendor of the Genroku cultural era, continue to enchant people across generations.

In the works of Kinsai Fujii, the artist honors the magnificent "Some-nishiki" (underglaze blue and overglaze enamel) tradition of Old Imari while layering his own unique aesthetic sensibility into the brilliance of the gold accents and the delicate rendering of patterns. The intricate designs covering the surface evoke the Japanese seasons, wishes for good fortune, and the distinguished elegance unique to Arita ware, offering a profound beauty that reveals itself more deeply the longer one gazes at it. The gold accents offer more than mere opulence; they take on soft shadows created by the kiln's flames, exuding a quiet, refined grace.

Displayed in an alcove (*tokonoma*), entryway, reception room, or living area, this piece adds traditional Japanese beauty and elegant splendor to the space, bringing a special atmosphere to everyday life. Highly regarded as a work of art that symbolizes Japanese culture, it is also cherished as a gift or commemorative item for international recipients, serving as a masterpiece that conveys the aesthetic spirit of Japan.
