This piece is a ceramic masterpiece of unparalleled quality, created by an artisan who poured their entire focus into the brushwork while shaping the clay on a potter's wheel—a process underpinned by the long history and tradition of Arita ware. Whether displayed in a *tokonoma* (alcove), entryway, reception room, or living area, it allows one to truly appreciate the magnificence of Japanese traditional craftsmanship. It is a work worthy of inclusion in any fine art collection. Furthermore, it makes a delightful gift for any occasion—suitable for personal celebrations, corporate gifting, or commemorative events—and is highly valued as a presentation piece for distinguished guests from around the world.
"Kinsai" (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style involving multiple firing stages: first, the piece is glazed and fired at 1,300°C; next, it is painted with traditional colored enamels and fired again at 800°C; finally, gold is applied to create intricate patterns. This piece features a magnificent and dignified style, combining brilliant gold accents with inventive color schemes and layouts.
Mount Fuji: Standing at the border of Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures, Mount Fuji is Japan's highest peak. With its summit rising far above the clouds, it serves as a symbol of Japan and a spiritual home for the Japanese people, cherished by many throughout history. Registered as a World Heritage Site in 2013, it is widely known internationally as an iconic mountain representing Japan and its culture. It is regarded as a highly auspicious symbol—an omen of good fortune and luck—and serves as a propitious motif that embodies the very spirit of Japan.
Folding Fan (*Sensu*): The folding fan is considered auspicious because its shape widens toward the edge when opened, symbolizing ever-expanding prosperity (*suehirogari*). In Arita and Imari ware, fan-shaped panels (*madoe*) are frequently used as frames for depicting flowers, birds, and other subjects. It is a traditional, elegant motif that embodies the wish for enduring happiness.
Sparrow (*Suzume*): The sparrow is a familiar bird that has long been regarded as a symbol of abundance. Long a favorite motif in crafts and paintings, this pattern is charming, heartwarming, and serene. Sparrows are considered auspicious birds that invite good fortune; they are believed to peck away at misfortune and evil, while also symbolizing an abundant harvest. This pattern, which embodies wishes for family prosperity and domestic well-being, is cherished for its friendly and endearing quality.
Plum blossoms—which endure the harsh winter to bloom before other plants—are revered as a symbol of vitality. They are also prized as an auspicious flower that brings the blessings of flourishing descendants and a long, harmonious life, and are said to attract good fortune in relationships. It is a classic, celebratory pattern that invites good luck.
