All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Washi-zome* (Washi-paper dyeing) is a decorative technique applied to unglazed, wheel-thrown pottery. Absorbent *washi* paper—cut into shapes and sizes matching the desired pattern—is placed against the vessel, and a pigment (such as *gosu*, made from cobalt oxide, manganese, iron, and kaolin) is allowed to soak through. By repeating this process multiple times, subtle gradations of color are achieved, resulting in a finished piece with a softer, gentler aesthetic than hand-painted designs.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita-yaki style in which patterns are applied using gold over a piece that has already been glazed and fired at 1,300°C. It is a magnificent and dignified style characterized by the incorporation of brilliant gold accents alongside inventive color schemes and layouts.
Wisteria (*Fuji*)
The wisteria is a tree that grows wild in the mountains and fields, producing beautiful blossoms. It frequently appears in classical literature and—having served as the surname and family crest of the Fujiwara clan during the Heian period—has deeply influenced Japanese culture. Long admired for its graceful appearance, the wisteria has frequently been depicted in ceramics, *maki-e* (gold-sprinkled lacquerware), and other lacquerware. With its elegance and refinement, the wisteria remains a highly popular motif to this day.
