All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,

therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.

*Somenishiki* is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by the incorporation of colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow. The process begins with underglaze blue painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; subsequently, traditional Arita overglaze enamels are applied, and the piece is fired again at 800°C. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves anywhere from four to ten separate firings. This style—also known as *Iro-Nabeshima*—originated around 1675, with pieces initially crafted as furnishings for the castle and as gifts for the Shogunate, feudal lords, and the Imperial Court; these techniques and traditions continue to be preserved to this day.

The Lion
The lion has long reigned as the "king of beasts," serving as a symbol of valor, grandeur, and authority. In Japan, the motif gained popularity within the warrior class around the Muromachi period and has since been featured in a wide variety of forms, including ceramics and paintings. It is also believed that having a lion bite one's head brings good health and wards off illness; consequently, the *shishimai* (lion dance) has traditionally been performed during the New Year and on other auspicious occasions. Revered since ancient times as a harbinger of good fortune and a bringer of happiness—as well as a force that drives away pestilence—the lion is considered a highly auspicious motif.
