All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage creation process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita colored enamels are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create intricate patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, a single finished work may undergo five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.
**Kirin**
The *Kirin* is a mythical creature from Chinese legend said to appear before the arrival of a sage. In ancient China, it was revered—alongside the tortoise, phoenix, and dragon—as one of the "Four Auspicious Beasts," a symbol of peace possessing mystical power. As a traditional motif, the *Kirin* has long been cherished and used in a wide variety of decorative objects and furnishings; it is considered an auspicious design that brings good fortune.
**Pine, Bamboo, and Plum (*Sho-chiku-bai*)**
The pine and bamboo—which retain their greenery even amidst wind, snow, and bitter cold—and the plum—which blooms earlier than other plants—are revered as symbols of longevity, nobility, and purity. The pine represents enduring vitality; the bamboo signifies steadfast integrity and nobility; and the plum is celebrated for its delicate fragrance and elegance. Long used in diverse applications such as ornaments and ceramics, this gorgeous motif is considered a symbol of good fortune and is highly appropriate for celebratory occasions.
**Old Imari Style**
Ceramics produced in the Hizen region (modern-day Saga and Nagasaki prefectures) from the late 17th to the late 18th century were exported to Europe via the port of Imari. Consequently, these Hizen ceramics came to be known both domestically and internationally as "Imari ware" (or "Old Imari")—taking the name of the port from which they were shipped. This style—characterized by deep-toned underglaze blue, the lavish use of red and gold pigments, and floral patterns that cover the entire surface of the vessel—is thought to reflect the prosperous spirit of the Genroku era. Hizen ceramics exported to Europe were prized and displayed in royal palaces and aristocratic mansions. The elegant, magnificent style that captivated 17th-century Europe remains beloved today and endures as a signature style of Arita ware.
