*Somenishiki* (or *Iro-Nabeshima*) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by the use of colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow. The process begins with underglaze blue painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; subsequently, traditional Arita overglaze enamels are applied, and the piece is fired again at 800°C. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves between four and ten separate firings. Originating around 1675, this style was initially produced for castle furnishings and as presentation gifts for the Shogunate, feudal lords, and the Imperial Court; these techniques and traditions are preserved to this day.

Cherry Blossoms (*Sakura*): Synonymous with Japan, the cherry blossom is the country's national flower. Admired for their magnificent appearance, these blossoms have long served as a motif in a wide range of art and crafts. With their spectacular full bloom and petals fluttering gently to the ground, they are a highly popular pattern that evokes a festive and elegant atmosphere.

Peony (*Botan*): Known for its large, magnificent blooms, the peony has long been revered in China as the "King of Flowers" and a symbol of wealth and nobility. In Japan, too, the peony's breathtaking beauty has made it a frequent motif in art and crafts. It is considered an auspicious pattern that combines splendor with a refined, gentle grace.

Chrysanthemum (*Kiku*): This flower serves as the emblem of the Imperial Family. Prized for its exquisite shape, color, and fragrance, it frequently appears in *Ko-Imari* and *Iro-Nabeshima* ware. Along with the orchid, plum blossom, and bamboo, it is one of the "Four Gentlemen" (*Shikunshi*)—a group of plants deeply cherished as auspicious symbols.
