"Somenishiki-Kogane" (Dyed Brocade and Gold) is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying gold accents over white porcelain that has already been fired at 1,300°C, followed by a final firing at 800°C to bond the gold. The process entails firing the piece after the application of each individual color—requiring six to ten firings in total—before the gold is finally fired. The gold applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow. The luster of the gold shifts depending on the angle of the light or the viewer's perspective, resulting in a magnificent, opulent style that commands a powerful presence.
Peony
With their magnificent, large blossoms and noble bearing, peonies have long been revered in China as the "King of Flowers" and celebrated as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. In Japan, too, the breathtaking beauty of the peony has inspired its use in a wide array of designs, from paintings to traditional crafts. It is an auspicious motif that embodies a sense of elegant grace amidst its splendor.
