All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage firing process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (in colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create intricate patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.
**Peony (*Botan*)**
With its large, magnificent blossoms and noble bearing, the peony has long been known in China as the "King of Flowers" and a symbol of wealth and honor. In Japan, too, the peony's spectacular beauty has inspired its use as a motif across a wide range of art forms, including paintings and crafts. It is considered an auspicious pattern that conveys a sense of elegant gentleness amidst its splendor.
**Arabesque (*Karakusa*)**
The arabesque pattern depicts the intertwining vines of a plant. Arita ware features a wide variety of arabesque designs, such as *Kiku-karakusa* (chrysanthemum arabesque), *Botan-karakusa* (peony arabesque), and *Kiri-karakusa* (paulownia arabesque)—which combine vines with flowers, leaves, or fruit—as well as the *Tako-karakusa* (octopus arabesque) pattern, named for its resemblance to the suction cups on an octopus's tentacles. Cherished by many for its perfected beauty as a traditional design, the arabesque motif appears frequently on Arita and Imari ware. Because the vines extend endlessly in all directions, the pattern is regarded as an auspicious symbol representing longevity and prosperity.
