*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage creation process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (in colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create intricate patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the entire process involves five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.
*Seigaiha* (Blue Ocean Waves) is a geometric pattern featuring wave motifs depicted in fan-like shapes and layered in an alternating arrangement. Admired by all for its perfected beauty as a traditional design, it frequently appears on *Iro-Nabeshima* and *Ko-Imari* (Old Imari) wares. It is considered an auspicious pattern, embodying the wish for a peaceful life to continue eternally—much like the ceaseless, repeating waves of the vast, boundless ocean.
