*Kinsai* (gold decoration) is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by a multi-stage creation process. It begins with underglaze painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; next, traditional Arita overglaze enamels (red, green, blue, yellow, etc.) are applied and fired at 800°C; finally, gold accents are added to create intricate patterns. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, a single work may undergo five to ten separate firings. The result is a magnificent, dignified style that combines brilliant gold decoration with inventive color schemes and layouts.

**Phoenix (*Hō-ō*)**
Originating in ancient China, the phoenix is a legendary, auspicious bird—known as the "King of Birds"—and is counted among the "Four Auspicious Creatures" alongside the tortoise, *qilin*, and dragon. The legend of the phoenix was introduced to Japan during the Asuka period; its motif has since been used on a wide variety of ornaments and furnishings and remains beloved today as a symbol of good fortune.

**Paulownia (*Kiri*)**
Since ancient times, the paulownia tree has been considered auspicious. Regarded as a noble tree, it serves as an Imperial crest alongside the chrysanthemum. In Arita and Imari ware, the paulownia is traditionally depicted as the tree upon which the phoenix perches; consequently, the two are frequently combined to create elegant, prestigious designs.

**Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves)**
This is a geometric pattern featuring fan-shaped waves layered in an alternating arrangement. Its perfected beauty as a traditional pattern has made it a universal favorite, frequently appearing in *Iro-Nabeshima* and *Ko-Imari* (Old Imari) wares. It is an auspicious motif embodying the wish for a peaceful life to continue forever, much like the ceaseless, repeating waves of the vast, boundless ocean.
