"Somenishiki Platinum-Irodori" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying platinum accents to white porcelain—which has already been fired at 1,300°C—and then firing it again at 800°C to bond the platinum to the surface. The piece undergoes multiple firings—typically six to ten rounds—as each color is applied individually, with the platinum firing serving as the final step. The platinum bonded to the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant gleam. This luxurious style fuses the traditions of Arita ware with a modern sensibility.
**Egret (Sagi)**
Because egrets often fly to watersides near human settlements—unlike cranes—they have long been familiar figures and are revered as sacred birds. In China, the word for egret (*lu*) is a homophone for the word for "path" (*lu*), associating the bird with the auspicious concept of "uninterrupted prosperity along one's life path." Influenced by this tradition, the egret motif appears widely in Japanese art, including *maki-e* lacquerware and ceramics. The image of a quietly standing egret, exuding an air of noble purity, is a popular auspicious design.
**Plum Blossom (Ume)**
The plum blossom, which endures the harsh winter to bloom before other plants, is regarded as a symbol of vital life force. It is also cherished as an auspicious flower that bestows the blessings of prosperous descendants and a long, harmonious life, and is said to attract good fortune in relationships. It is a classic, celebratory motif that invites good luck.
