"Somenishiki Platinum-iro" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii, in which platinum accents are applied to white porcelain—previously fired at 1,300°C—and then fused to the surface through a subsequent firing at 800°C. The process involves firing the piece after the application of each individual color—requiring six to ten firings in total—before the final platinum firing. The platinum fused across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant sparkle. It is a luxurious style that fuses the traditions of Arita ware with a modern sensibility.
