"Somenishiki Platinum-Irodori" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying platinum accents to white porcelain—which has already been fired at 1,300°C—and then firing it again at 800°C to bond the platinum to the surface. The piece undergoes multiple firings—typically six to ten rounds—as each individual color is applied, with the platinum firing serving as the final step. The platinum applied across the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant sparkle. This luxurious style harmoniously blends the traditions of Arita ware with a modern aesthetic.
Paulownia (Kiri)
Since ancient times, the paulownia tree has been considered auspicious. Regarded as a noble tree, it serves—alongside the chrysanthemum—as an emblem of the Imperial Family. In the decorative motifs of Arita and Imari ware, the paulownia is traditionally depicted as the tree where the mythical phoenix (ho-o) perches; consequently, the pairing of the paulownia and the phoenix is a frequent theme, creating a design of great elegance and prestige.
