All of our products are all handmade and hand painted by Master Fujii Kinsai,
therefore each individual item are slightly different each other.
"Somenishiki Platinum-Irodori" is a unique technique developed by Kinsai Fujii. It involves applying platinum accents to white porcelain—which has already been fired at 1,300°C—and then firing it again at 800°C to bond the platinum to the surface. The piece undergoes multiple firings—typically six to ten rounds—as each color is applied individually, with the platinum firing serving as the final step. The platinum bonded to the surface creates subtle nuances of light and shadow; its luster shifts depending on the angle of the light and the viewer's perspective, ensuring a constant, radiant sparkle. This luxurious style harmoniously blends the traditions of Arita ware with a modern aesthetic sensibility.
**Phoenix (Ho-o)**
Since ancient times in China, the phoenix has been revered as a mythical, auspicious bird—the "King of Birds"—and is counted among the "Four Auspicious Creatures" alongside the tortoise, qilin, and dragon. The legend of the phoenix was introduced to Japan during the Asuka period; its motif has since graced a wide array of decorative objects and furnishings, and it remains cherished today as a symbol of good fortune.
**Paulownia (Kiri)**
The paulownia tree has long been considered an auspicious plant. Regarded as a noble tree, it serves—alongside the chrysanthemum—as an emblem of the Japanese Imperial Family. In the decorative traditions of Arita and Imari ware, the paulownia is depicted as the tree upon which the phoenix perches; consequently, the two are frequently paired to create designs of great elegance and distinction.
