*Somenishiki* is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by the incorporation of colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow. The process begins with underglaze painting followed by firing at 1,300°C; subsequently, traditional Arita overglaze enamels are applied, and the piece is fired again at 800°C. Because the piece is fired after the application of each individual color, the creation of a single work involves anywhere from four to ten separate firings. *Somenishiki* (specifically the *Iro-Nabeshima* style) originated around 1675, initially produced for use as furnishings within the castle and as presentation gifts for the Shogunate, feudal lords, and the Imperial Court. These techniques and traditions continue to be preserved to this day.

*Tessen* (Clematis)
The name *tessen*—literally "iron wire"—refers to the plant's vines, which are as strong as iron. Prized since ancient times for its graceful appearance, the clematis motif has frequently been depicted on Arita and Imari ware. With its charming aesthetic, the clematis remains a highly popular pattern in modern times.
