*Somenishiki* is a traditional Arita ware style characterized by the use of colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow. The process begins with underglaze blue painting followed by glazing and firing at 1,300°C; subsequently, traditional Arita overglaze enamels are applied, and the piece is fired again at 800°C. Because the piece is fired after the application of each color, the creation of a single work involves anywhere from four to ten separate firings. The *Somenishiki* style (also known as *Iro-Nabeshima*) originated around 1675, initially produced for castle furnishings and as presentation gifts for the Shogunate, feudal lords, and the Imperial Court. These techniques and traditions continue to be preserved to this day.

*Seigaiha* (Blue Ocean Waves)
This is a geometric pattern featuring waves depicted in a fan-like shape and layered in an alternating arrangement. Its perfected beauty as a traditional motif has made it universally popular, and it frequently appears in *Iro-Nabeshima* and *Ko-Imari* (Old Imari) wares. It is considered an auspicious pattern, embodying the wish for a peaceful life to endure forever—much like the ceaseless waves of the vast, open ocean.
